Living in Singapore

Singapore is a country with a unique blend of Asian and Western influences. The downtown and local neighborhoods offer a variety of cultural and social opportunities for both families and singles. There are countless shopping centers, parks, gardens, museums, and art galleries throughout the city. Here are the reasons why Singapore is a great country to live in:

English speaking country

From signboards to services, to ordering food, everyone can communicate in English.

Public transportation is super efficient

There are trains, buses, and taxis that will take you wherever you need to go. Singapore is a relatively small country (with an area of 721.5 km). You can go from one end of the country to the other in less than two hours!

Food is amazing

If you are a foodie, Singapore is the place to be! If you’re not so adventurous, there are supermarkets that will carry some of your home country’s food staples.

Currency is strong

Singapore's economy has been ranked as the most open in the world, third least corrupt and most pro-business. It also has low tax rates (14.2% of Gross Domestic Product, GDP).

Vibrant fine arts and sports scene

From international Broadway touring shows, to mega concerts, to exciting sporting events, to world class art galleries, to all kinds of fun festivals, there’s always something to explore and do in Singapore.

Gateway to Southeast Asia

Singapore is an international destination hub; it’s easy to explore surrounding countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia. The flights are relatively reasonable and due to the strong Singapore Dollar, you will get your money’s worth when you vacation in these neighboring countries!

At ICS, we believe that every child matters, and we are naturally inclusive. We are a community that values cultural diversity. Over 29 nationalities make up our campus of 400+ students. We instill in each student a love and respect for people of all cultures through everyday interactions, as well as annual international community service projects where we partner with ministries in Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and throughout southeast Asia.

International Community School (Singapore) was founded in 1993 and offers an affordable, quality, character-based education. We provide our students with a dynamic, challenging, and holistic American-based college preparatory curriculum.

Mission and Core Values

The ICS mission is “educating minds and transforming lives to impact the world for the glory of God”. We drive this mission through our core values: personal excellence, holistic education, caring community, and Biblical worldview. We view every student as a gift from God entrusted to us by their parents. We are committed to educating students holistically in a nurturing environment that includes comprehensive and challenging opportunities in academics, creative arts, spirituality, athletics, extra-curricular activities, and service.

Eighty-five percent of our teaching faculty are North American. All our teachers hold current teacher credentials. The average length of stay is five years. Forty-eight percent of our faculty hold a Masters degree or higher.

Who We Are Looking For

ICS looks for experienced, certified teachers who have a strong understanding of common core standards which are taught within the context of an American curriculum. These teachers should be able to articulate and demonstrate a strong pedagogical approach in the classroom as well as understand the mission of ICS, to grow the students holistically and to educate minds and transform lives for the glory of God. This happens by taking great care to ensure that each student’s unique educational and spiritual needs are met and that they will not be lost in the crowd.

Culture of the School and Staff

ICS believes that the culture of the school revolves around the tight community of caring that has been built between the teachers, students and parents. The goal each day is to build our students into internationally minded citizens who can change the world for Christ through helping to transform the lives and communities around them.

ICS holds dual accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WACS) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). ICS is also registered with the Singapore Committee for Private Education (CPE).
