JOB DESCRIPTION – K-12 School Counselor
School Background:
International Christian School of Pyeongtaek is located in the city of Pyeongtaek which is approximately 50 miles south of the city of Seoul and has a steadily growing population of approximately 400.000 people.
Pyeongtaek and its surrounding area has been chosen by the US military to be a "hub" location for Korea and the school is close to Osan Air Force Base and Camp Humphries Army Base. The school's proximity to these military installations impacts school enrollment and approximately 40% of the students have parents who work for defense-related companies.
ICS- Pyeongtaek follows a Kindergarten thru Grade Twelve American education program and is seeking educators who have enthusiasm and passion for Jesus Christ. Second, only to their passion for Christ should be their passion for the profession of teaching. They must love working closely with their peers and they should enjoy forming strong, personal relationships with their students.

Looking for a school counselor to provide both social-emotional counseling for K-12 and college & career counseling for high school.
Job Summary:
To be a committed and mature, mission-minded Christian believer who is an effective team member, creating and maintaining a positive learning environment that supports every student. The counselor will also have the opportunity to lead students through extracurricular activities and mentor/family groups. In addition, the counselor will:
Coordinate PSAT, SAT, and AP testing and assist students with registration
Counsel students regarding college selection, admissions and financial aid
Write college recommendation letters as requested
Counsel students regarding social/emotional and academic problems
Facilitate college fairs and recruiter visits as opportunities allow
Participate in continuous school improvement efforts and committees
Fulfill student supervision duties as assigned
Embrace a spirit of professional growth
General Responsibilities:
Provide social/emotional and academic counseling and teach college prep and life readiness courses.
Grades this person will likely teach:
Primarily counseling for grades K-12, with some teaching for college/career readiness for high school students.

Qualifications:
Current state or provincial issued teacher certification, Minimum of an undergraduate degree, Flexibility of Schedule, School Counselor certification

Masters in Counseling or related field preferred. Experience as a counselor in an International and / or cross-cultural environment preferred
