NorthStar Academy (NSA) is a community of 4th-12th grade learners in an accredited online school. NorthStar uses the Internet to link students with other students and certified teachers who provide the students' instruction and grading.

NorthStar is completely online with students all over the world. It has rolling enrollment, which means students can begin a class on any Monday throughout the year. 

NSA is celebrating its 20th year. It is dually accredited by AdvancEd and ACSI. While NSA is a Christian school, many unbelievers attend which provides an opportunity to acheive our NICS purpose of reaching the world for Christ through Christian education. NorthStar operates under the belief that being strong academically and discipling students can be done simultaneously; one should not be sacrificed in order to attain the other.

Job Summary/Objective

As the key ambassador for NorthStar Academy, the Marketing Director promotes the mission of NorthStar Academy to students, families, and schools worldwide through the coordination of external marketing materials, managing brand resources, and coordination of marketing projects and initiatives that accurately support and communicate the vision of NorthStar Academy.

General Responsibilities 

  • Live a life reflective of Christian principles and practices in and out of the work environment.

  • Safeguard the interests of the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS) and NorthStar Academy (NSA) and its 

  • mission and vision.

  • Commit to spending time at the beginning of each workday in prayer for the NSA community and mission.

  • Attend the NSA Team Meeting each morning 

  • Develop and implement marketing initiatives for the cultivation of a strong, positive public image of NSA

  • Develop and supervise strategies and plans that encourage current and past NSA stakeholder identification and advocacy.

  • Develop and implement the use of social media to promote a strong, positive public image of NSA.

  • Oversee the creation, collection, curation, and distribution of digital content. 

  • Create and implement comprehensive communication strategies for engaging current and future stakeholders and enrollment/employment candidates. 

  • Collect and maintain data on enrollment/employment activities to evaluate effectiveness of current marketing and determine future marketing needs. 

  • Coordinate with a variety of NSA staff concerning marketing needs and school website development and maintenance

  • In cooperation with the Director, budget available funds for the greatest return on investment based on collected marketing data. 

  • Appropriately represent NSA at various meetings within the organization and outside of the organization.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships as required to accomplish organizational purposes.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director within the normal scope of the position herein described. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Efficient in Adobe Creative Suite or comparable graphic creation and design software.

  • Specialized in all aspects of SEO

  • Sound knowledge and skills related to current advertising trends regarding education.

  • Efficient in Google analytics, Google Ad Display Network. Ability to create ads and track data (Facebook, Google, etc.)

  • Vetting external marketing opportunities. 

  • Must be able to work independently, be self-motivated and collaborate with others.

  • Online and/or nonprofit community experience preferred.

  • Experience with educational technology is a plus.

  • Superb written and verbal communications to include presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Professionalism, trustworthiness, resourcefulness, and a willingness to learn.

  • Organizational skills that demonstrate the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with great attention to detail.

  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.

  • Must comply with all Network of International Christian Schools and NorthStar Academy policies and procedures.
