NorthStar is totally online with students all over the world working asynchronously. Students work at their pace, finishing a semester course within 26 weeks and a year long course within 52 weeks. NorthStar is currently seeking experienced online course developers, equipped to write a one-semester Advanced Placement Macroeconomics course.

Job Summary/Objective

The Curriculum Developer will serve as a subject-matter expert helping to create and design course material, material that may include: high-quality copy, assessments (formative and summative), and audio and video scripts for customized delivery in our LMS. All instructional content created must align to NSA’s instructional design guidelines and biblical worldview. Effective communication with teachers and school leaders is essential as Course Developers must demonstrate a passion for building and designing discipleship pathways between our students and teachers within each course. The NorthStar Academy work environment requires flexibility, self-direction, creativity, and strong communication skills. Course Developers at NSA work independently and efficiently to manage project timelines and submit high-quality products on time or ahead of schedule.

General Responsibilities

In coordination and at the direction of the Curriculum Director and NorthStar Academy’s Curriculum Coaches, online course developers will work to design, produce, and develop online courses for NorthStar Academy, an accredited online Christian school for students in grades 4-12. Candidates with background knowledge and expertise in online teaching and learning and learning management platforms are encouraged to apply.


1. A Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology, or Online Learning preferred.

2. Meets teacher Social Studies certification requirements recognized accrediting agency responsible for issuance of school’s accreditation.

3. Evidence of College Board training and/or professional development specific to AP Macroeconomics instruction required.

4. A minimum of three years’ experience with instructional design and online teaching and learning processes for K-12 learners is required.
