Physical Education Teacher, Elementary 

 

Job description: The Elementary School PE Teacher utilizes a variety of instructional techniques to support students in developing gross motor and sports-related skills according to the school’s curriculum and established learning standards.  He/She is responsible for collaborating with colleagues and planning and implementing standards-based assessments and lessons.  He/She also closely monitors student progress, provides timely feedback to students, and consistently communicates student progress to parents so that students’ learning growth is maximized.  The Elementary School PE Teacher is also responsible for the supervision of students during recess/lunch duties as needed/required.  The Elementary School PE Teacher is a faithful follower of Jesus who lovingly models Christian values and has a heart for sharing Christ with students.

Faculty: Seventy-five percent of our teaching faculty are North American. All our teachers hold current teacher credentials. The average length of stay is five years. Fifty-six percent of our faculty hold a Masters degree or higher.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Plan, prepare, and execute appropriate lessons, utilizing appropriate resource materials and activities.

  • Communicate with parents, students, and other professional staff regarding student progress (behavioral and academic). 

  • Follow the prescribed scope and sequence of curriculum and assessment as scheduled.

  • Assess student learning against the appropriate standards on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.

  • Maintain proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises utilizing teacher created discipline plans in conjunction with a school-wide discipline plan. 

  • Employ a variety of instructional aides, methods, and materials that will promote best practices in order to reach the whole child as stated in the ICS mission statement.

  • Integrate Biblical Principles and the Christian Philosophy of Education throughout the curriculum.

  • Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade reports that provide comprehensive information for each student’s learning progress.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 

  • Master’s Degree Preferred

  • Teaching credential from a state or from ACSI 

    • Experience working with students

    • Knowledge of specific subject(s)

  • Maintain teaching credentials as required through sponsoring agency (state/provincial education department, ACSI, etc.). Acquire and maintain teaching credentials as required by the laws of Singapore, NICS, and/or ICS.
