International Christian School Uijeongbu (ICSU) was founded by the Rev. Joe Hale under the original name of Liberty Christian School in 1983. The school opened to meet the needs of several missionary families in the Uijeongbu area. Because of the number of “non-command-sponsored” military children in the area, the school was expanded to include students in Kindergarten through Grade Twelve.
International Christian School Uijeongbu is the first of 18 international schools that today form the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS). ICSU has two sister schools in Korea: Yongsan International School of Seoul (YISS) and International Christian School Pyeongtaek (ICSP). All three schools cooperate and support each other.
ICSU was accepted as a candidate for accreditation in 1988. After an extensive self-study, the school was visited by the accrediting team from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in April 1991. The school received a full six-year accreditation in June 1991 and has maintained dual accreditation with ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) since 1996. ICS-Uijeongbu is fully accredited until June 2023 and the school is in the process of completing a comprehensive self-study for continuing accreditation with both organizations.
We are looking for professional educators who love God, love children, and desire to serve the Lord by educating, guiding, and supporting children and young people. The ideal person has a passion for the holistic nurture and growth of children and the spreading of the Gospel. In addition, this person is responding to the call to "Send me, here am I" and is motivated to minister globally in a culture and country that will be different from what they know, bringing both great opportunities and challenges - a chance to make a new place "home," while bringing glory to God in all that they are called to do.
