Nairobi is the capital and largest city in Kenya, having about four million inhabitants. West Nairobi School (WNS) is located in Karen, Kenya, a suburb to the west of Nairobi. Adjacent to the Ngong Forest, WNS is very scenic and peaceful. The temperature is consistent year round, remaining between 20 and 27 degrees Celcius (65 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit) with rains occurring in November-December and again in March-May. English is the national language of Kenya and Kiswahili is the language of culture. Tourism is the number one industry in Kenya, followed closely by tea and coffee.
West Nairobi School is an international Christian community founded on biblical truths, existing to educate and nurture students to become responsible citizens and devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
West Nairobi School is uniquely poised to serve both the missionary and national population in Kenya. By offering quality education, it frees parents to serve the people of Kenya and the rest of East Africa.
West Nairobi School is in the process of beginning a high school. In the 2006-2007 school year, we will add 9th grade. Each successive year will see the addition of another grade culminating in a full high school program in the 2009-2010 school year.
WNS follows the traditional American school calendar beginning in the middle of August and concluding at the end of May. We observe both major American and Kenyan holidays (please visit our website for the school calendar).
WNS is looking for teachers who thrive in small classroom environments (less than 25) and who are dedicated to the total education of the children of missionaries and Kenyan nationals. WNS offers a family atmosphere in a picturesque location in a country known for its beauty, wildlife and friendliness. WNS students are respectful, motivated and enjoyable. We hope you will consider joining our family!
